Mt. Washington Wandering
Today I wandered a bit around Mt. Washington. I was told there is a little general store in a place called Smithville Kentucky, but never could locate it. If anyone knows where it is, please do share! I did find this beautiful log cabin complete with old wagon in front…absolutely lovely.

Taylorsville Lake
I took a trip out to Taylorsville Lake this evening. There is this big lonely white house that I call my house…I feel sad when I see it falling down and think about how probably one day, it had laughter in its halls, warmth in its stove and the smells of fresh baked pies wafting through the rooms. I wish I had the money to restore it…

Around the House
My roses are in full bloom, the grass is growing faster than we can keep up with and it’s Friday of Memorial Day Weekend…ah, life in the country…

Be Free Little Turtle
Today my dogs cornered a turtle under our front hedges, were I assume it had gone to attempt to lay eggs. We rescued it and set it free in a safer location than the front hedges of my house.

Louisville Skyline
Well tonight we took my mom down to take picture of the Louisville Skyline. This was the first time I have seen it since the new arena was built and I must say…I HATE IT! The arena just totally ruins what was a gorgeous skyline for me. It is just so out of place looking amidst all the beautiful historic looking buildings.

Spider Bite...OUCH!!!
OK being bit by a Daring/Bold Jumping Spider hurts like HELL. I am not sure that childbirth was this painful. thankfully their venom is not known to be dangerous in humans unless you have extreme allergies. oh wait that's me! well so far its ok. extreme pain and the tip of my finger is swollen and numb. hoping its not much worse before it gets better.

This is my finger a week later....

Heavenly...
It truly is heavenly...I am sat here, just after 9pm. its not quite fully dark outside. My hubby has gone to bed, mom is retreated to her room to watch a movie in bed and the television is OFF! I am sat in the dark, no lights except the light of my computer and a front porch light for my son to see his way in the door. The window next to me is open and a gentle breeze is coming through it....outside the sounds of evening. Crickets chirping, a few cicadas clicking, birds singing, frogs bellowing and the sound of wind kissing the tree leaves. It is a wonderful peaceful sound. Can you hear it? As it became more dark outside and I set here listening and watching the night fall, what was that...I thought I saw something... No, not yet...it grows darker...OH! There it is again, YES the fireflies are back. Hello little firefly, welcome home!

Lumina Customizations…
Well my Lumina has undergone another surgery…I lost brake lights, so hubby and son gave me a “customization” to the rear of my car…at least it’s legal even if it does have extra lights in places you would not expect…

JDRF Taylorsville
Today was the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Carnival for a cure. Unfortunately weather did not cooperate a great deal and we were only about to fit in about two good hours between rain and heavy thunderstorms. Maybe next year weather will be a bit more cooperative.

Dave Huntsman and PPAGL
Tonight Dave Huntsman was the speaker for PPAGL. I know I have said this before, but if you ever get the chance to attend a class taught by Dave, you will NOT want to miss it. Every time I hear Dave speak I learn something new. I am super excited to have Dave scheduled to speak at the PhotoForum Camera Club May 26th.

Honoring Our Hometown Heroes & Thunder Over Louisville
Today I was invited to photograph our Hometown Heroes at Gheens Auditorium. While there I was presented with a beautiful Challenge Coin from Adjunctive General(2 Star General). Afterwards, those of us who helped with the honoring ceremony were invited to join the honorees and their families on the base flight line to get an up close and personal look at the aircraft to fly in Thunder Over Louisville. I spent most of the day there, watching the aircraft fly in and out before moving to a vantage point to see the fireworks over the Ohio River. Oh, yes, and did I mean I got royally burnt! Maybe next time I will remember my HAT!!!

Cove Springs Wildflowers & Castle Post
Today my mom and I visited Cove Springs to see the wildflowers, but apparently we are a bit early because there was not much to see. We also were allowed to photograph the inside of Castle Post, a castle in Versailles Kentucky, near Keenland. I have to admit, it was more impressive from the outside. Maybe because it was not in full swing, so the gardens were not complete and fountains not running. It also looked like they had some guests who enjoyed a rather wild party and they had not yet cleaned up. So, while I did take a few pictures, it was difficult to get nice shots without evidence of the visitors.

Formals And A Handsome Couple
Today, Jeremiah and his lovely date "L" attended her sorority house formal. They both looked really nice....it was nice to see my son dressed in a tux...
Weldon Flavorings
Today I had the pleasure of working with the folks at Weldon Flavorings on some of the product shots. I have to admit, I really like their coffee flavorings and the tea flavorings are quite good too.

Ahhhh-Chooooo!
Well those of you who have seen me, know I have been battling something. A few bouts of pneumonia, asthma, the works. Surprising I have not had anything like this since moving away from California. Turns out, after a visit to my new allergist, it has taken me a few years to develop an all new set of allergies. Welcome to the world of Kentucky Allergy Sufferers and the worst pollen year in over a decade!
