The Kentucky Derby
I know I have not updated my blog in a while. I was so excited to be able to attend my first ever Kentucky Derby...I had been able to visit the back side several times in the two weeks leading up to the Derby. I walked around all those beautiful horses. I placed my bet on a beautiful (almost gray) horse. Yes, I bet on the grey! She was strong and graceful. I thought she would do well, wasn't sure she would win, but bet her to place. I was right, she placed! But then my heart sank to the point of tears, "She's down, Eight Bells is down". I watched the race from just past the second turn. As I stood there in anticipation, I hoped I would not witness one of those sickening moments I had seen on news runs. Thankfully I did not "see" it, but to hear it just gave me a lump in my stomach. I am sad to say the place I was standing did not give me a good line of sight for the lovely Eight Bells, but if you look close, you can see her...hugging the rail. I will always remember my first Derby...
