Congrats to George & Danielle!

Today was the big day for George and Danielle! I am sure Danielle was walking on a cloud preparing for her wedding day and George was most likely a bundle of nerves. I was excited to share this special day. I do love weddings!!! The ceremony was beautiful, the flower girls adorable and everything proceded beautifully. I am certain George and Danielle will be blessed with many years of happiness. Thank you again for allowing me to spend this special day with you!

PPAGL Meeting

Tonight was the first PPAGL (Professional Photographers of Greater Louisville) meeting of the year. We had a wonderful meeting with lots of good information for a beginning business or an existing one that just needs a jump start to get their business end in order. If you have interest in being a professional photographer in the Louisville area, check this group out. Visit the website for information of upcoming meetings. The site is a flash site, so if you have a slow connection you may have trouble accessing it, but I would be glad to share upcoming meeting information. Just let me know!

White Blankets

This morning we woke to a white blanket covering our yard again. I guess I was lazy this time, I didn't take any pictures, although I should have. This time the pond was smooth as glass but not frozen which made a very unique look with the snow covered banks. I planned to drive around getting some nice snow pictures, but unfortunatly the sun came out quickly and the snow was melted anywhere the sunshine hit. Oh well, better luck next time. I am ready for spring. I have enough snow and ice pictures for this year...

On The Way Café Display

I have a couple of pieces featured at On The Way Café in Taylorsville KY. It is located on 44 on the way to Taylorsville Lake, thus the name, On The Way Café! If you are looking for good food, good service and friend people, this is the place to go. They have wonderful breakfast and reasonable prices. Be sure to stop in and say hello to Lisa, the owner and take a peek at my images. They are hanging in the non-smoking section of the restaurant. I hope to have more placed this summer.

Sad Day For My Studio Dreams

Today I turned in the keys to my studio at 22 W. Main Street in Taylorsville after moving my studio back to my basement. While the location seemed perfect, I could not deal with the ever increasing roof leaks knowing we are not even close to peak rain season. After discovering a couple of days ago that a new leak soaked a backdrop and carpets and nearly reached electrical items in a “safe zone” I decided enough was enough. Everything in the studio that was paper medium has been ruined due to the moisture. While it was my dream to have a storefront studio, it was not part of my dream to battle moisture and mold problems. I am still in business, just taking a new direction. Who knows where this chapter will lead. I made contacts through this adventure I may not have made otherwise and look forward to more involvement in my community. In the words of a very wise friend, I did not fail, the building failed. My spirits are relatively high but then so is my disappointment but alas, it’s UP FROM HERE! I am looking forward to bigger and grander things ahead. I hope to have all the moving items situated shortly and be back in business. The props have grown exponentially in this adventure!

Explanation Of Fire In The Sky

This afternoon I received an explanation for what my husband and I saw in the night’s sky from the Meteorologist at WLKY.

“You are correct! Below is a statement issued by the National Weather Service in Louisville. Kind of crazy, huh? ..DEBRIS FALLING FROM SATELLITES CRASHING IN ORBIT... THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LOUISVILLE KENTUCKY HAS RECEIVEDPHONE CALLS OF LIGHTS IN THE SKY AND VIBRATIONS SIMILAR TOEARTHQUAKES FELT ACROSS THE LEXINGTON METRO AREA. ACCORDING TONASA...THIS IS LIKELY DUE TO TWO SATELLITES COLLIDING IN ORBIT.NASA HAS INDICATED THAT AN AMERICAN SATELLITE AND RUSSIAN SATELLITECOLLIDED IN ORBIT JUST THIS PAST TUESDAY. THE LIGHTS SEEN IN THE SKYARE PIECES OF DEBRIS FROM THE COLLISION...AND THE VIBRATIONS FELTARE THE SONIC BOOMS CAUSED BY THE FALLING DEBRIS. Matt Milosevich, Meteorologist, WLKY-TV”

I feel like we viewed a part of history that only a few had the privilege of seeing, but I think my legs shook for about an hour after I got home. There is something about flaming debris appearing to come right at you in the pitch black that is rather unnerving.

Valentines Day At Krohn Conservatory

Today I went with a few club members to the Krohn Conservatory. It was pretty much a normal day at the conservatory but they were passing out chocolate hearts for Valentines Day. I always enjoy the conservatory for flower pictures. Afterwards we stopped for lunch downtown at Potbelly. They have yummy sandwiches!

Music at the VFW

Tonight we went to hear my husband's cousin play steel guitar at the VFW in New Albany, Indiana. We had a good time and the music was good. Hopefully we will be able to listen to them more often. I really love going to concerts. Other than the smoke in the room, I love a variety of music styles and love to dance!

Fire In The Sky

Tonight, driving home from a club board meeting, I got the life scared out of me! While traveling on Taylorsville Lake Road (155) North Eastward at about 10:06 pm 2/13, I saw what appeared to be a large object (star, meteor or larger) fall from the sky. It began as a bright light and as it fell, seemed to ignite with a blue streak behind it. My husband and I saw it fall for approximately 8 seconds before it extinguished. Could this have been one of the two satellites that collided?

Woodford Display Comes To A Close

Today I went to Woodford Distillery with a few club members to remove our display from the visitor’s center. We received many positive comments and hopes that we would have another display up in the future. The distillery rotates the art displays and kept ours up an extra long time because it was so well received. We still have a display up at the City Café on Broadway, downtown and are currently working on additional display opportunities. I really didn’t get any pictures from this trip I was thrilled with. It was a cold blustery day with a lot of ice on the ground. Wind made it rather difficult to take pictures as well, so I will have to visit the distillery area and make another run by Switzer Covered Bridge on a prettier day.

Round Two Snow

Well you guessed it, snow again. We had two inches fall on us again today. At least it was not accompanied by ice this time. Our tractor broke down Friday after plowing the driveway twice last week. Fortunately we were able to get it fixed last night before today’s snow fall.

Ice Storm Damage

The evidence of the ice storm is everywhere; tree limbs either down or laying on power lines. The news said 95% of the county I live in was in the dark. I am happy to say I was the 5% this time. Most of my neighbors have been able to keep electric, water and cable during the whole mess.
