Sad Day For My Studio Dreams
Today I turned in the keys to my studio at 22 W. Main Street in Taylorsville after moving my studio back to my basement. While the location seemed perfect, I could not deal with the ever increasing roof leaks knowing we are not even close to peak rain season. After discovering a couple of days ago that a new leak soaked a backdrop and carpets and nearly reached electrical items in a “safe zone” I decided enough was enough. Everything in the studio that was paper medium has been ruined due to the moisture. While it was my dream to have a storefront studio, it was not part of my dream to battle moisture and mold problems. I am still in business, just taking a new direction. Who knows where this chapter will lead. I made contacts through this adventure I may not have made otherwise and look forward to more involvement in my community. In the words of a very wise friend, I did not fail, the building failed. My spirits are relatively high but then so is my disappointment but alas, it’s UP FROM HERE! I am looking forward to bigger and grander things ahead. I hope to have all the moving items situated shortly and be back in business. The props have grown exponentially in this adventure!
